Normal neurons were arranged orderly and had normal morphology with intact structure, abundant cytoplasm, and clear nucleolus in sham group. Most neurons in the damaged area appeared shrunken and deep stained in the I/R group. XXMD treatment improved the ischemic changes, which were blocked by LY294002.
