Therapeutic Effect of the Tuber of Alisma orientale on Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Acute Lung Injury

Figure 7

EEAO posttreatment increases the survival of septic mice. Mice received an i.p. injection of LPS (30 mg/kg body weight) and D-(+)-galactosamine hydrochloride (500 mg/kg), with or without EEAO (30 mg/kg) 2 h after the LPS treatment. Most septic mice treated with LPS and galactosamine hydrochloride (solid triangle) succumbed to death within 48 h (90%), while control mice that were treated with EEAO (solid square) or PBS (solid circle) alone all survived. On the other hand, septic mice that received EEAO 2 h after an i.p. injection of LPS and galactosamine hydrochloride (solid diamond) showed an improved survival (60% within 24 h and 50% with in 48 h after LPS injection). was 20 per group, and the result is represented by Kaplan-Meier survival curves (log-rank test, * ).
