Yokukansan Improves Mechanical Allodynia through the Regulation of Interleukin-6 Expression in the Spinal Cord in Mice with Neuropathic Pain

Effect of yokukansan on mechanical allodynia induced by intrathecal injection of interleukin- (IL-) 6 in naïve mice. Mechanical allodynia was tested by punctate stimulation using a von Frey filament with a bending force of 0.16 g applied to the footpad of the paw on right side. Yokukansan extract (YKS, 1 g/kg) or vehicle (VH2: tap water) was orally administered 2 h before intrathecal injection of IL-6 or PBS (VH1).
