Antibacterial and Anti-Inflammatory Activities of Physalis Alkekengi var. franchetii and Its Main Constituents

Figure 1

Effects of 50-EFP on THP-1 cell viability. (a) Cells were incubated with increasing concentrations of 50-EFP (0.2, 1, 5, 25, 100, and 500 μg/mL) for 12 h or 24 h. Cell viability was measured by the MTT assay. (b) Effect of 50-EFP on LPS-induced NO and PGE2 production in THP-1 cells. THP-1 cells were pretreated with 50-EFP for 6 h before being incubated with LPS for 24 hours. The culture supernatant was analyzed for NO or PGE2 production. (c) Total cellular protein was isolated and LPS-induced iNOS and COX-2 expression levels were measured using Western blotting analysis. versus control, ; versus LPS only group. Data are representative of three independent experiments.
