Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a common adverse reaction which can lead to permanent symptoms and disability in cancer survivors. Studies have shown that the incidence of CIPN ranges from 19% to more than 85%. Long-term follow-up results suggest that CIPN symptoms may persist for several years or even a lifetime after the cessation of chemotherapy, seriously affecting the quality of life of patients and treatment compliance.

Although CIPN is common, the mechanisms underlying oxaliplatin-induced peripheral neuropathy remain ambiguous. No agents are currently recommended for the prevention of CIPN, and although duloxetine has shown positive results in clinical studies, its treatment efficacy is limited. Consequently, preventing and treating CIPN remains clinically challenging. There are many literature reports on Chinese medicine for the prevention of CIPN, including oral Chinese medicine and external washing with Chinese medicine. Complementary and alternative therapies, such as herbal medicine, acupuncture, and exercise therapy are widely used in preventing and treating CIPN.

The aim of this Special Issue is to determine the contribution of complementary and alternative therapies to the prevention and treatment of CIPN. We invite research clinicians and scientists to submit original articles as well as reviews providing a comprehensive overview of high-quality research in CIPN. We are particularly interested in manuscripts that report the physiological effects as well as the underlying mechanisms of TCM for ischemia-reperfusion injury.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

• Systematic reviews and/or meta-analyses on the use of complementary and alternative therapies for CIPN
• The effects of herbal medicine on the prevention and treatment of CIPN
• The effects of acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, and massage on the prevention and treatment of CIPN
• The effects of exercise therapy on the prevention and treatment of CIPN
• The mechanism of complementary and alternative therapies in the prevention and treatment of CIPN
• Advances in the mechanisms of CIPN
• Advances in biomarkers and risk factors of CIPN
