Scientific Basis of Mind-Body Interventions

Call for Papers

Mind-body interventions are alternative forms of medicine and treatment which focus on the interaction of the mind, body, brain, and behavior. They cover a variety of techniques that often restore the individuals' health in new and different ways. Research providing scientific basis of the mind-body interventions can lead to increasing its therapeutic values and promoting more widespread use in clinical and social service settings.

We invite authors to submit original research articles and review articles on the scientific basis and the associated biological, psychosocial, and social mechanisms that underpin the therapeutic effects of mind-body interventions. We are particularly interested in articles that describe the new or integrated mind-body interventions; advance our knowledge in specific types of mind-body interventions; and explore mind-body treatment outcomes in human and animal models. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Epidemiology of the mind-body interventions
  • Development and randomized control trials on the mind-body interventions
  • Identification of biomarkers/correlates of illness conditions as a result of mind-body interventions
  • Health professional training in mind-body therapies
  • Roles of mind-body therapies in specific populations or specific illnesses/diseases
  • Recent advances in mind-body interventions
  • Neuroscience basis or mechanism of mind-body interventions

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ecam/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/author/submit/journals/ecam/mind/ according to the following timetable:
