Role of Complementary and Alternative Medicine in Cardiovascular Diseases
Description
Cardiovascular disease is on the rise globally causing millions of deaths every year. It is less prevalent in communities where a traditional lifestyle has been preserved. Diabetes mellitus, hypertension, dyslipidaemia, smoking, obesity, and sedentary life style are identified risk factors for cardiovascular diseases. These factors are on the rise and are the focus of our attention as a means to control the rising prevalence of cardiovascular diseases. Focusing on lifestyle interventions and low-cost remedies are necessary since the high cost of health care is straining health budgets of all, even the resource-rich countries. Evidence-Based complementary and alternative (CAM) therapies offer a natural and cost-effective intervention to prevent and control cardiovascular disease.
We are interested in articles that explore various prevention and treatment options for cardiovascular diseases. Potential topics include, but are not limited:
- Prevention of hypertension
- Control hypertension
- Control of obesity
- Control of blood lipids
- Control blood sugars
- Smoking cessation
