Natural Products on Reactive Oxidative Species (ROS)-Related Cardiovascular Diseases

Call for Papers

The reactive oxidative species (ROS) generation is highly associated with a variety of diseases, and the oxidative stress plays an essential role in the pathogenesis of these diseases. A lack of antioxidative protection could cause high oxygen metabolism and damage normal cell function. The cardiovascular disorder has remained among the highest-ranking mortality diseases ranking presently as the leading cause of death in the world for decades. Novel medicine development is a critical issue to solve this problem. With lower side effects than in the conventional medicine, recently, more attention has been paid to the health-promoting role of natural products from crude extracts or single compounds in in vivo or in vitro studies. Therefore, these natural products with therapeutic benefits currently become a complementary alternative medicine (CAM) for the treatment of these ROS-related diseases.

Investigators are invited to submit original research as well as review articles that explore the mechanisms of the therapeutic effects of natural products. Experiments using cell or animal models to understand the molecular signaling pathways involved in the detailed mechanisms are urgently required. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Cell or animal models for the experiments with single-compound (or crude extract) treatment of the ROS-related cardiovascular diseases
  • Elucidating the mechanisms of single compound (or crude extract) action for the treatment of these diseases through the alteration of the ROS generation
  • Clinical trials for the experiments with single-compound (or crude extract) treatment of the ROS-related cardiovascular diseases
