New Insights into Cancer: Natural Compounds as Safer and Effective Alternatives

Call for Papers

The word “Cancer,” no doubt, threatens people around the globe as it is killing ~ ten million people globally per year. The conquest of cancer has posed great challenges to medical sciences. Since it arises from normal cells and nearly every tissue lineage in our body is affected, it is difficult to be treated in a targeted manner. A lot of research is going on in these areas such as epidemiology, diagnosis, association between life-style/diet/infection and the disease, chemo-/radiotherapeutics for precise targeting and cure, immunostimulants, understanding of genetics/epigenetics, application of “omic” technology, and potential exploration of the body’s own immune system as nature’s tool to fight against cancer. The focus of the entire research is “to fight against only cancer cell without affecting the surrounding normal cells.” Mother Nature offers many designer molecules in the form of herbs and dietary/marine sources, which can safely target and kill cancer cells. Mother Nature’s cancer treatments are called “natural cancer treatments” or “alternative cancer treatments.”

We invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles which can stimulate the continuing efforts to understand the molecular mechanisms of complex cancer pathogenicity, development of strategies to treat, and natural products/sources as alternative cancer treatments and which can combat chemo-/radiotoxicity, integrated approaches for effective cancer prevention/cure, immune boosters from natural sources as anticancer agents, and any other related articles.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • New modalities for cancer prevention particularly with alternatives from natural (herbal/dietary) sources: in vitro/ in vivo/human studies and clinical trials
  • Advances in epigenetics and cancer: role of natural anticancer agents as epigenomic modifiers
  • Stem cell as potential targets for cancer intervention by alternatives
  • Naturals to support conventional cancer therapy
  • Potentials of immunomodulators and immunonutrients for cancer treatment
  • Role of pro-/prebiotics and antimicrobials/marine compounds against cancer
  • Concepts for developing effective strategies to treat cancer patients
  • Ethical issues on the use of alternatives for cancer therapies
