Synthesis of Isopropyl Ferulate Using Silica-Immobilized Lipase in an Organic Medium

Effect of reaction time on the yield of isopropyl ferulate. The esterification was performed for 15 h at 45°C using 100 mM isopropanol (IP) and 25 mM ferulic acid (FA) in DMSO under shaking. The ester yield was significantly higher (*) when FA : IP was used at 25 mM : 100 mM than ester yield obtained at 75 mM : 100 mM and 100 mM : 100 mM, respectively, under identical reaction conditions.
