Acetylcholinesterase from Human Erythrocytes as a Surrogate Biomarker of Lead Induced Neurotoxicity

Effect of lead (0.25 mM) on the activity of AChE from human erythrocytes with respect to the varying incubation time at room temperature (26 ± 2°C). The enzyme assay was carried out employing 50 μg protein using the procedure as described in Materials and Methods. The results indicate the average values of three independent experiments. The enzyme in the absence of lead served as a control and did not show any decrease in activity.
