Effects of Immunomodulatory Substances on Phagocytosis of A ๐›ฝ ๐Ÿ - ๐Ÿ’ ๐Ÿ by Human Microglia

Figure 3

(a)-(b) Uptake of Aฮฒ 1โ€“42 (a) and the concurrent secretion of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) (b) by human CHME3 microglial cells at 24 and 96 hours. The cells were incubated with concentrations of Aฮฒ 1โ€“42, ranging between 0.1 and 5โ€‰ g/mL, or vehicle. The cells were harvested and the medium collected at 24 and 96 hours. In (a), the data are expressed as the proportion of cells with intracellular Aฮฒ 1โ€“42, . In (b), the data are expressed as % of control (vehicle) set at 100% and shown as median percentiles (25%โ€“75% and 10%โ€“90%). There was a significant effect of the treatment on the uptake of Aฮฒ 1โ€“42 at 24 hours and at 96 hours . The secretion of BDNF was also significantly altered by the treatment at 24 hours and at 96 hours . Statistical difference from Aฮฒ 1โ€“42, 5โ€‰ g/mL, is indicated by 798424.fig.0010 ; statistical difference from vehicle is indicated by .
