Diverse functions of SRs in development of Alzheimer’s disease. RAGE facilitates transport of monocytes and Aβ across the blood-brain-barrier, whereas SCARA-1 mediates internalization of Aβ by microglia. CD36 and TLR-4 and TLR-6 ligation with Aβ induces intracellular signaling and release of ROS, chemokines and cytokines.
