Typical CRLH planar unit cell topology along with its circuit model. The series capacitance is implemented as O-shaped gap capacitance and the shunt inductance as spiral and rectangular inductors which connected to ground plane through metallic via holes. The substrate FR_4 with height  mm, and tan δ = 1 × 10−3 has been used in all of the structures of this paper.
