On the Suppression Band and Bandgap of Planar Electromagnetic Bandgap Structures

Dispersion diagram of the planar EBG structure shown in Figure 1 and light lines in dielectric. Four sets of data points showing the first four propagating modes are extracted numerically using HFSS. The curves fitted to these sets of data are plotted in the diagram. The design parameters of the EBG are: = 1.6 mm, = 0.02 mm, = 1.6 mm, = 0.02 mm, = 114.3 μm, = 140, and = 0.0015.
