(a) The equivalent incident currents 𝑞^𝑖_𝑘 on 𝜕𝒟_𝑘 produce incident fields 𝐹^𝑖_𝑜 in the region occupied by the object; (b) the object “reacts” with polarization and/or magnetization currents 𝑞_𝑜; (c) the currents 𝑞_𝑜 produce scattered fields 𝐹^𝑠_𝑡𝑘 on 𝜕𝒟_𝑘; (d) the scattered fields are replaced with equivalent scattered currents 𝑞^𝑠_𝑘.
