Cellular Response to a Novel Fetal Acellular Collagen Matrix: Implications for Tissue Regeneration

H&E staining of PriMatrix implants and overlying dermis at days 1, 3, 7, 14, and 28 following implantation (with insets of higher power images of implant). A progressive cellular infiltrate is seen populating the implant from the periphery, with the implant being remodeled to resemble the overlying dermis by day 28. At this time point, the transition from implant to native tissue is indistinct, with minimal fibrotic capsule formation noted. Scale bar is 100 μm for all images.
