Lithium Improves Survival of PC12 Pheochromocytoma Cells in High-Density Cultures and after Exposure to Toxic Compounds

LDH release in the culture medium of PC12 cells treated for 24 hours with 100 nM thapsigargin alone or in combination with 0.5 mM lithium. Lithium treatment significantly reduces the thapsigargin-induced LDH release; a low but significant decrease in LDH release is observed in cultures treated with lithium alone with respect to the untreated control.
