Mitochondrial DNA and Functional Investigations into the Radiosensitivity of Four Mouse Strains

Calcium-induced hepatic mitochondrial swelling is strain dependent. Hepatic mitochondria from C57BL/6 and BALB/c mice were isolated. Two calcium concentrations (50 μM and 75 μM) were used to induce mitochondrial permeability pore opening. The response of mitochondria to calcium overload was recorded in 10-second intervals with a 540 nM spectrometer. Significant response differences were found.
