New Technologies and Ideas in Orthodontics

Call for Papers

Modern orthodontic practices have evolved considerably over the last 20 years; improvements in tools and techniques have enabled clinicians to achieve great results with far less discomfort and in a much shorter treatment time than was ever before possible. This could happen, thanks to landmark innovations in modern orthodontics such as NiTi wire, Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs), or indirect bonding. Certainly there still remain no substitutes for the skill, experience, and education of a well-trained orthodontic practitioner; however, contemporary treatment philosophies are changing the way we treat the majority of patients, especially when recurring to treatments that do not need patients compliance.

We are particularly interested in manuscripts reporting the clinical applications and results of new techniques in orthodontics aimed at improving everyday orthodontic practice, both for patients and clinicians. The aim is to make a critical review on these topics to test whether they are capable of producing any better clinical result and outcome for patients. We therefore invite authors to present original research articles, as well as review articles showing techniques requiring minimal patient cooperation, less chair time, and less total treatment time. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Invisible orthodontic techniques
  • Digital treatment planning
  • Robotic wire preparation
  • Analysis of the gingival crevicular fluid
  • Induction of a regional acceleratory phenomenon

Before submission, authors should carefully read over the journal’s Authors Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ijd/guidelines. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/ijd/tior/ according to the following timetable:
