Epidemiology of Periodontal Disease
Description
Destructive periodontal diseases are multifactorial diseases. Since the development of this paradigm, several epidemiological studies evaluating destructive periodontal diseases have been pursuing associations in the incessant identification of demographic, behavioral, and biological risk factors for these diseases. An understanding of risk factors can lead to theories of causation and then to treatment protocols for clinicians to use with their patients. We invite authors to submit original research and review articles that explore aspects of epidemiology of periodontal disease. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Prevalence, incidence, and distribution of periodontal disease
- Measurement and determinants of periodontitis
- Risk factors for periodontitis: demographic, behavioral, and biological risk factors
- Predicting the risk of periodontitis: cross-sectional, case-control, and cohort studies
- Molecular epidemiology: advances and innovations in epidemiological periodontal research
Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ijd/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/ according to the following timetable:
