Analytical and Numerical Approach to Solve Multiscale and Multiphysics Problem: Theory and Applications

Call for Papers

Many problems in natural and engineered systems are related to multiscale and multiphysics problems. While multiscale problems deal with different spatial and time scales, which should be considered to simulate the full problem, multiphysics problems treat problems that underly multiple physical models or multiple simultaneous physical phenomena. Such problems are modelled with coupled differential equation systems, and we concentrate on the following types or a mixture of such types:

  • Ordinary differential equations
  • Partial differential equations
  • Stochastic differential equations
  • Discrete differential equations

In the special issue, we discuss various multiscale or multiphysics problems and their simulation approach. So interest is analytical or numerical approach of different multiscale and multiphysics problems, such as flow and transport processes, kinetic and stochastic processes, and discrete processes. The analytical approaches can be related to integral and differential methods, such as integral transformation or characteristic schemes, while numerical approaches can be related to discretization and solver schemes, such as finite element schemes and iterative solvers.

Moreover, efficient numerical algorithms, new analytical formulations, and modelling techniques are required if such delicate multiscale and multiphysics problems can be understood and addressed new and existing challenges in such modeling and simulation.

We motivate interested researchers and scientists to submit their works related to differential equations in multiscale and multiphysics approach to our special issue.
