Big Data in Ubiquitous Wireless Sensor Networks

Call for Papers

Big data through cloud computing is an excellent way to offload significant amounts of computation and data from both data centers and terminal devices. However, cloud computing may not be suitable for all applications such as Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) for its high requirement of real-time latency and response, as well as geographically distributed and mobility support. The scope of this special issue is in line with recent advances for big data in ubiquitous wireless sensor networks, focusing on the computation and storage, data analysis and mining, distributed algorithms for data, and computation placement, guaranteeing a global standard of quality and system integrity in wireless sensor networks. This special issue will address the state of the art and future directions of this research area. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Data analysis and mining in wireless sensor networks
  • Real-time big data streaming integration and processing in large-scale sensor networks
  • Data-flow modeling and management in wireless sensor networks
  • Sensor networks as a computing and storage platform
  • Sensing model and coverage strategy for ubiquitous sensor networks
  • Models for performance-aware optimizations in wireless sensor networks
  • Cloud-based architectures for distributed data integration
  • Massive data processing in sensor networks
  • Scalability, reliability, and other quality assurances in ubiquitous sensor networks
  • Unified user and machine mobility management in ubiquitous sensor networks
  • Security, privacy, and system integrity in ubiquitous sensor networks
  • Applications for big data in ubiquitous sensor networks
