Mass Cooperative Transmission and QoS Supported Mechanism in Wireless Sensor Networks

Call for Papers

Data scale and type in wireless sensor networks are growing very fast which is caused by a lot of new massive services such as industrial, military, and natural environmental monitoring, real-time multimedia communication, and target tracking system. Compared with traditional data transmission, the previously mentioned characteristics of massive diversity services bring about significant challenges and design considerations for providing diversity of QoS guarantees and mass transmission mechanism for wireless sensor networks in complicated wireless environment. Main contributions have focused on the development of new architecture and protocols supporting massive data applications.

Motivated to address the challenges, this special issue focuses on providing the recent advances on cooperative communication and diversity of QoS guarantee schemes based on massive data of wireless sensor networks or wireless multimedia sensor networks. Authors should present papers describing novel mechanisms, as well as state-of-the-art contributions on key issues like detecting similar duplicate records, dissemination, big data management, big data processing, reliable and real-time transmission, and so on. Papers dealing with how cooperation can be implemented through mechanisms such as error control schemes, multimedia communication, among others, are also welcome. We solicit papers covering all aspects of approaches and related topics with fundamental research and/or experimental studies. Papers submitted for consideration should describe original research not published or currently under review by other journals and conferences. Parallel submissions will not be accepted. All submitted papers will be rigorously reviewed, and we will select papers based on their originality, timeliness, significance, and relevance to this special issue. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Robust and scalable MAC or routing protocols
  • Topology control and big data management
  • Cross-layer design and interactions
  • Implementation testbeds based on big data in wireless sensor networks
  • Applications and evolutions of massive transmission in wireless sensor networks
  • Algorithms and modeling for localization, target tracking
  • Cooperative error control protocols for wireless sensor networks
  • Diversity of QoS guarantee in cooperative communication for wireless sensor networks
  • Performance evaluation and modeling of massive transmission in wireless sensor networks
  • Data management and forwarding processing of multimedia communication in wireless sensor networks
  • Distributed cooperative algorithms
