Advances in Security and Privacy in Sensor Networks

Call for Papers

With the advances in sensor technologies, there is a growing interest in the design, development, and deployment of sensor systems for applications of high-level inference, which leads to an increasing demand on interconnecting sensor networks with other emerging technologies, such as RFID technology, wireless sensor networks (WSNs), Internet, cellular network, and big data. With sensor technology being incorporated into these technologies, demands from more and more autonomous and intelligent applications can be met. These technologies have applications in many important areas, such as military, healthcare, environment monitoring, and manufacturing. Security and privacy are critical issues to many sensor network applications including military target tracking and healthcare monitoring. To provide security and privacy to these networks is challenging, due to the open nature of wireless communication and the limited capabilities of sensor nodes in terms of processing power, storage, bandwidth, and energy.

This special issue is focused on security and privacy issues of sensor networks. It will publish results in sensor networks to share the state of the art in these fields and explore the new frontiers that may be of interest to researchers. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Body sensor networks and wearable sensor systems
  • E-health information and network infrastructure
  • Health grid and health cloud
  • Intelligent data processing and information retrieval
  • Security, privacy, and cryptographic algorithms in WSNs
  • Security and privacy in body sensor networks
  • Mobile social networks
  • Integration of sensors with RFID tags
  • Cognitive radio networks
  • Applications of sensor networks
