Blood glucose (a) and fructosamine levels (b) and body weight (c) of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Blood glucose levels and body weight were assessed at the onset and end of treatment with vehicle, bixin, norbixin, insulin, or metformin. Fructosamine levels were assessed at the end of the treatment. Data are expressed as means ± SEM ( per group). ANOVA followed by Duncan’s test: versus the respective nondiabetic control; versus the respective diabetic vehicle.
