G Protein-Coupled Receptors: Diverse Roles in Pain, Inflammation, Stress, and Feeding
Call for Papers
G Protein-Coupled Receptors (GPCRs) are a family of seven transmembrane domain receptors whose ligands orchestrate a plethora of physiological functions, ranging from food intake and neurotransmission to pain and stress responses. Not surprisingly, they comprise 40% of all drug targets. Recent advances in biology and medicine have introduced new technologies to study the structure, interaction, and the signaling mechanisms underlying their pathology. Novel tools have been used to delineate signaling or structure of GPCRs and design better drug molecules. The development of relevant animal models is a key to obtain successful therapies and to provide better care to patients.
We invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that will bring researchers from a broad spectrum of research areas involving GPCRs and provide a platform to assimilate our understanding about the molecular pathophysiology underlying GPCR function and action, the cross-talk between different GPCRs to mediate signaling, and the development of strategies to treat a wide range of conditions. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Advances in structure and function of GPCRs
- Interaction between different GPCRs
- GPCRs in pain modulation
- GPCRs in feeding
- GPCRs in stress
- GPCRs as drug targets
