The two mtDNA groups within C. sp. “virginalis kajose” (non-Mbuna and virginalis clade) cannot be distinguished from each other based on the nuclear markers, whereas C. chrysonotus and M. eucinostomus clearly differentiate although they share the same mtDNA haplotype lineage.
