Large Planting Stock Type and Mechanical Release Effects on the Establishment Success of Picea glauca Plantations in Quebec, Canada

Average modal height (±standard error) of the principal groups of competing vegetation, as evaluated during the eight growing season following planting of four experimental Picea glauca plantations established in south central Quebec (Canada). See Table 1 for a detailed description of each vegetation group. Treatments consisted of four intensities of vegetation management including a control, mechanical release during the third growing season (REL3), mechanical release during the fifth growing season (REL5), and plots where competition for light was eliminated through repeated herbicide and mechanical release treatments (No competition: NC). Treatment effects were consistent across sites (refer to Table 2 for detailed ANOVA results). Data are presented separately for each site for clarity and convenience.
