Effect of Removal of Woody Biomass after Clearcutting and Intercropping Switchgrass (Panicum virgatum) with Loblolly Pine (Pinus taeda) on Rodent Diversity and Populations

Table 2

Mean (±1SE) recruitment estimates (new individual via birth or immigration/existing member/plot) by treatment (calculated in Program MARK). Rodents were captured and released on site at the Lenoir 1 Sustainability Study Site, in Lenoir Co., NC, during 15 July–9 December, 2009 and 19 July–14 November, 2010. Statistical results are from comparisons using a 1-way ANOVA or Kruskal-Wallis test when parametric assumptions were not met. Kruskal-Wallis test statistics are reported as estimates. Treatments: PB+ = Pine Biomass+; PB− = Pine Biomass−; P × SB+ = Pine × Switchgrass Biomass+; P × SB− = Pine × Switchgrass Biomass−; S = Switchgrass.
