Contraindications for the TIPS procedure.

Absolute
(i) Right sided heart failure
(ii) Biliary tract obstruction
(iii) Uncontrolled infection
(iv) Pulmonary hypertension
(v) Chronic recurrent disabling hepatic encephalopathy
(vi) Hepatocellular carcinoma involving hepatic veins

Relative
(i) Severe liver failure (Pugh score >12)
(ii) Portal vein thrombosis
(iii) Multiple hepatic cysts
