Proliferation of rat hepatocytes in pure culture. Isolated rat hepatocytes (right, picture in phase contrast) seeded at low density (<5.104 cells/cm2) and stimulated with EGF (25 ng/mL) commit to DNA synthesis (BrdU incorporation, histogram and in situ immunodetection of BrdU positive cells) and complete the cell cycle (mitotic index, right axis).
