Hypertension and Stroke
Call for Papers
Hypertension (HT) is a common vascular disorder not only present in the old population but its incidence is increasing around the Western countries. Adequate therapeutic control of hypertensive patients is so far insufficient, some patients are not correctly diagnosed, and the target blood pressure level is still high (>130/80 mmHg). Because of the high relevance of the disease, the knowledge of an efficient HT control and a better prognosis and outcome of these patients is necessary. On the other hand, stroke is the second leading cause of death in the Western countries and is responsible for permanent neurological disability in the adult population. The incidence of this disorder is largely increasing, mostly related to the ageing of the population worldwide.
We invite researchers to contribute their original articles as well as review articles that will stimulate the continuing efforts to understand HT and stroke, particularly papers describing the role of new modalities of treatment, advances in diagnostic procedures for these particular diseases, and the relationship between blood pressure and neurological vascular disorders. In addition, we are interested in papers that explore different aspects on blood pressure and stroke. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Novel and effective antihypertensive drugs
- Complementary measures of treatment (diet, salt restriction, exercise, etc.) Identification and relevance of side effects of drugs
- Identifying biomarkers/correlates with prognosis
- Cardiovascular risk factors and stroke
- Clinical relevance of stroke
- New modalities of stroke's management
