SEM images of the specifically designed samples. Alternations between three lines of the investigated dimers and two lines of reference monomers are made. All nanoparticles are 100 nm in diameter. In (a), the dimer’s separation gap is 30 nm, and in (b) the dimers have no gap (i.e., contact). The mutual distance between two dimers (center to center) is fixed at 600 nm in both directions.
