Advancements in Photovoltaic Cell and System Technologies

Description

The intermittent nature of solar energy has led to advancements in photovoltaic cell, module, and system technologies, in an effort to address the current energy needs necessary for sustainable development.

There is ongoing interdisciplinary research on the design of advanced photovoltaic (PV) technologies and PV systems contributing to the increase in cell and module efficiency and PV system reliability and durability, in order to maximize the solar energy harvested and overall system yield.

This special issue aims to collect original research and review articles in this domain to increase visibility of the innovative designs, methodologies, and experimental results.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Advancements in PV cell and module technologies
  • PV diagnostics, reliability, and durability
  • Advanced PV-based configuration systems: PV, solar thermoelectric generators (STEG), solar thermal collectors (STC), and PV/T
  • Concentrated or conventional PV systems integrated with STEG, STC, and energy storage (electric and thermal integration design, techniques and methods used for enhancing efficiency of hybrid solar systems, applications, etc.)
  • Innovative small-scale solar systems for sensor applications (PV cells, STEG, electrical integration and control, applications in smart buildings, etc.)
  • Smart PV systems, MPPT methods, novel measuring methods for PV, STEG, and hybrid solar systems Bifacial PV module
