Novel Photomedicine

Description

Recent advances in medical physics have introduced new technologies for detection and treatment of surface and interior neoplasms. Knowledge and understanding of possible principles of detection, effect, and control of the tumours have led to the development of successful therapies and novel tools to provide better care to patients.

We invite investigators to submit original research and review articles that will expand the knowledge about the current concepts of the laser light acting as a therapeutic and marker agent in phototherapy, cosmetology, and photodynamic diagnosis and control. We are interested in articles describing the new modalities for experimental and clinical techniques in photomedicine and biomedical nanotechnology: minimally invasive, in vivo, and applicable for early detection of tumors, navigation during microsurgery (primarily glial brain tumours typically sprouting into normal white matter), or effective treatment. The techniques may also concern nanotechnologies in medicine, light exposure on skin considering new effects and prospects, and the use of exogenous photosensitive agents in oncology, dermatology, and cosmetology. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Clinical Photomedicine
    • Navigation in microsurgery of brain and other tumours
    • Early diagnosis of epithelial neoplasms
  • Photo effects on skin and photosensitizers for
    • Oncology
    • Dermatology
    • Cosmetology
  • Biomedical Nanotechnologies
    • Nanoparticles in medicine
      • Luminescent nanoparticles
      • Transformable nanoparticles
      • Magnetic nanoparticles
      • Nanoantennas
    • Pharmacokinetics of nanoobjects

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal’s Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ijp/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/ijp/nopm/ according to the following timetable:
