The Future of Photovoltaics: Research Perspectives for 2020

Call for Papers

Along the road to increase the market penetration of photovoltaic devices, many academic and industrial efforts have been made to minimize the cost of PV devices per unit of produced energy. Typical paths to this purpose are through either minimizing material and production costs or maximizing device efficiency and manufacturing yield. In particular the efficiency of commercial flat-plate modules is expected to rise up to 23% by 2020, in line with the milestones set in the implementation plan for the Strategic Research Agenda of the European Photovoltaic Technology Platform. Are we on track according to this challenging plan? Are photovoltaic devices environmentally sustainable, in particular considering the availability of the raw materials, and to what extent is this sustainability among the current priorities? We invite researchers to contribute original research articles as well as review articles proposing new answers and innovative solutions. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Advanced materials and device concepts
  • Innovative concept for modules design
  • Advanced manufacturing processes
  • Life cycle analysis of photovoltaic devices
  • Low-cost applications
  • Advanced measurement techniques
  • Impact of public policy on the growth of photovoltaic industry

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ijp/guidelines/.
