Combined Advanced Oxidation Technologies and Biological Processes for Wastewater Treatment
Call for Papers
Due to the limitations of individual wastewater treatment processes, none is sufficiently effective on its own. For example, wastewaters which are toxic, inhibitory, nonbiodegradable, or refractory to biological cultures can be treated chemically or photochemically first to produce biogenic intermediates. On the other hand, biological pretreatment is used to treat biogenic and biodegradable contaminants in order to reduce the total cost of more expensive subsequent photochemical treatment processes. Due to the presence of nonbiodegradable, recalcitrant, and refractory components in water and wastewater, advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) have been excellent alternatives to treat wastewater. Unfortunately, AOPs are not cost-effective on their own, and, therefore, their combination with conventional biological processes may make the whole system more feasible and cost-effective.
We invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that will stimulate the continuing efforts to understand the integration of AOPs including their intensification and biological processes for the treatment of wastewater. These include reaction kinetics, photoreactor design, modeling and simulation, and optimization of combined processes. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Intensification of advanced oxidation technologies including modeling and optimization
- Integration of advanced oxidation technologies including modeling and optimization
- Combined AOPs and biological processes for wastewater treatment
- Cost analysis of combined AOPs and biological processes
Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ijp/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/ijp/caot/ according to the following timetable:
