Ghrelin is mitogenic to primary human osteoblasts. Osteoblasts cultured from human trabecular bone were growth-arrested in 0.1% BSA for 24 hours. Ghrelin was added for 24 or 48 hours, and cells were pulsed with 3H-thymidine for the last 24 hours of the incubation. Data are mean ± SEM; *indicates compared to untreated control by t-test.
