Kinetics of Phase Transformation of Indium in the Presence of Polytetrafluoroethylene: Implications for DSC Measurements on Polymers and Their Composites

DSC curves of In, shown as an example. (a) In absence of PTFE; (b) in the presence of PTFE. An amount of c.a. 7 mg of In was first melted by heating up to 180°C s−1 at a scan rate of 0.167°C s−1 and then cooled up to 155°C at −0.833°C s−1 and left to this temperature for 600 s. The last heating run in procedure (b) only proves that the exothermal peak is due to In crystallization.
