Table 1: Application levels of pesticides in Illinois. Levels of acetochlor, atrazine, cyanazine, simazine, and chlorpyrifos that were applied agriculturally in 1992, 1997, and 2002 were examined. Levels for nation-wide application and Illinois-only application are reported in pounds of pesticide. The average pounds per square mile were calculated for the Illinois data and this was used to calculate the amount of pesticide applied in the Lake Decatur watershed, a 925 square mile area. Application data was obtained from the National Pesticide Use Database [1].
