Comparison of the contour maps of the local component of the strain rate tensor for a 3D microstructure. The middle section of the 3D RVE used in the calculation is shown at the top (a), while the predicted strain rate contours by the FE method (b) and the MKS established in this work (c) are shown below. Both phases are assumed to exhibit isotropic plasticity with yield strengths of 200 MPa and 250 MPa, respectively. The macroscopic simple compression strain rate applied is 0.02 s−1.
