An Emerging Role for Serine Protease Inhibitors in T Lymphocyte Immunity and Beyond
Figure 10
Spi2A is an EPO-specific protective factor. A model is depicted in which EPO promotes erythroblast formation through the expression of Spi2A, which inhibits cathepsin B after it is released from lysosomes within stressed or compromised erythroblasts. Suppression of cathepsin B by Spi2A inhibits PCD and further production of ROS and LMP.
