Experimental Review of Graphene

Figure 2

First Brillouin zone and band structure of graphene. The vertical axis is energy, while the horizontal axes are momentum space on the graphene lattice. The first Brillouin zone of graphene is illustrated in the horizontal plane and labeled with some points of interest. 𝐾 and 𝐾 are the two nonequivalent corners of the zone, and 𝑀 is the midpoint between adjacent 𝐾 and 𝐾 points. Γ is the zone center. 𝐾 and 𝐾 are also known as the Dirac points. The Dirac points are the transition between the valence band and the conduction band.
