Basic steps of the MART-AP algorithm.

Step 1: Define initial estimates 𝐟⁽⁰⁾ for the object function and 𝐌⁽⁰⁾ for the mask.

Step 2: For 𝑠=0,1,2..., calculate 𝐟^(𝑠+1) using MART and the mask 𝐌^(𝑠).

Step 3: Smooth 𝐟^(𝑠+1) with a low-frequency filter.

Step 4: Calculate values of 𝐌^(𝑠+1).

Step 5: If 𝐌^(𝑠+1)≠𝐌^(𝑠), then go to step 2, otherwise go on to step 6.

Step 6: End.
