L-Carnitine Improves the Asthma Control in Children with Moderate Persistent Asthma
Table 4
Correlation between free and total carnitine levels with C-ACT, FEV1% of predicted and FEV1/FVC ratio in asthmatic children at the beginning of the study.

C-ACT: Childhood-Asthma control test. FEV1/FVC: Forced Expiratory Volume in 1st second/Forced Vital Capacity Ratio. (*) is significant, r correlation coefficient, CI confidence interval. The table showed the correlation between serum carnitine (free and total) and C-ACT and some pulmonary function parameters in asthmatic children at the beginning of the study. C-ACT and FEV1 (% of predicted) had significant positive correlations with total and free serum carnitine. However, there were no significant correlations between FEV1/FVC and the levels of total and free serum carnitine. |
