Real-Time Analysis of Specific Protein-DNA Interactions with Surface Plasmon Resonance

General principle of surface plasmon resonance imaging (SPRi). The reflected light of the whole array is detected using a CCD detector. Adsorption of a ligand on the sensor surface (middle) or the interaction between an analyte and the corresponding ligand (right) results in a shift of the SPR curve towards a higher angle (orange SPR curve). Due to the measurement restrictions (fixed wavelength and angle of incidence θ), binding is detected at every spot of the array simultaneously as a change in the reflectivity ( %R).
