Applied Mathematics in Biomedical Sciences and Engineering 2013

This issue is now closed for submissions.

Description

The interdisciplinary approach is becoming an increasing need in scientific and industrial communities. The most evident example of such a need is the strong interconnection between applied mathematics and biomedical sciences/engineering. Indeed, biomedical sciences and biomedical engineering have become one of the most promising application areas of applied mathematics.

We cordially invite researchers to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that will promote the development of new computational algorithms, mathematical models, and efficient optimization techniques for biomedical applications. With this special issue, we hope to stimulate the continuing efforts to solve real-world biomedical problems with advanced theories and technologies of applied mathematics as well as provide a good opportunity for researchers in applied mathematics, biomedical sciences, and biomedical engineering fields to discuss the current state-of-the-art knowledge of this emerging interdisciplinary research field. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Mathematical modeling and mathematical analysis of biomedical problems
  • Numerical analysis for biomedical sciences and biomedical engineering
  • Optimization techniques and computational methods for biomedical applications
  • Mathematical models for bioelectromagnetics, bio-optics, and neural engineering
  • Inverse problems in biomedical imaging, including image reconstruction algorithms
  • Methods for biomedical image processing and visualization
  • Computational methods for physiological signal processing
  • Multidisciplinary combining algorithms, modeling, and optimization
  • Applications of mathematical theories to biomedical sciences/engineering field
  • Applied statistics in medical and biological sciences

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/jam/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/jam/ambse13/ according to the following timetable:
