Uncertainty-Based Design Optimization in Engineering: Model, Algorithm, and Application
Description
All through the lifecycle in realistic world, there inherently exists a vast quantity of uncertainties arising from the structural system itself, as well as the environmental and operational conditions it is involved in. The barriers in uncertainty-based design optimization are mainly nonlinear optimization with interval or fuzzy data and uncertainty-based multidisciplinary design optimization.
We invite authors to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that will facilitate the continuous efforts to quantify uncertainties, advanced strategies for propagation of uncertainties, effective ranking methods for interval numbers and fuzzy numbers, the conversion of nonlinear optimization model with interval or fuzzy data, uncertainty-based multidisciplinary design optimization for structural systems with interval or fuzzy parameters, advanced algorithms of the converted model of uncertainty optimization, and applications in engineering design. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Advanced methods for uncertainty analysis, including quantifying uncertainties and strategies for propagation of uncertainties especially in the framework of MDO
- Effective ranking methods for interval numbers or fuzzy numbers
- Conversions of nonlinear optimization model with interval or fuzzy data
- Uncertainty-based multidisciplinary design optimization under uncertainty environments
- Efficient algorithms of converted models of uncertainty optimization with interval or fuzzy data
- Typical applications in engineering design under uncertainty environments
