Blockade of Electron Transport at the Onset of Reperfusion Decreases Cardiac Injury in Aged Hearts by Protecting the Inner Mitochondrial Membrane

Figure 2

Hemodynamic changes during ischemia and reperfusion. There were no differences in left ventricular developed pressure (LVDP) and diastolic pressure (LVEDP) between the two groups at the end of the 15โ€‰min equilibration (EQ) period before ischemia. The diastolic pressure in untreated hearts was not different in the two groups at the end of ischemia, prior to treatment. LVDP and LVEDP were similar in both groups during reperfusion. (Mean ยฑ SEM; * ๐‘ƒ < 0 . 0 5 versus preischemia value, ๐‘› = 1 0 in each group.)
